Serve & Learn Opportunities
Want to grow your skills while serving others?
Our Serve & Learn opportunities are designed for people who want to get involved at church with a small time commitment (around 4-8 hours a week). Whether you're a high school exploring future career paths or looking to learn something new, we’d love to have you join us!
Students seeking credit or scholarship verification for volunteer hours should contact their guidance counselor to obtain the required community service documentation form.
You can gain hands-on experience in areas like:
Office Administration & Church Communications – learn secretarial and organizational skills, data entry, and office systems
Sound, Media & Tech Team – help run audio, livestreams, lighting, and projection during services and events
Children’s Ministry Support – assist teachers, prepare crafts, and help with check-ins
Youth Ministry – support youth nights, games, and activities
Worship Team Assistance – help set up, become a vocalist/musician, organize music, or learn basics of musical management
Hospitality & Event Planning – help with setup, greeting, serving food, or coordinating gatherings
Facilities & Clean-Up Crew – help with maintenance projects, cleaning, organizing storage, and setting up spaces for services
Outreach & Community Service – participate in food drives, local outreach, and service projects
Creative & Design Team – assist with photography, social media, graphic design, or video editing
Prayer & Care Ministry – learn how to support others through prayer and encouragement

Internships
We offer internship opportunities for college students and emerging leaders to grow in ministry, education, leadership, and service.
Program Duration - Up to 6 Months
This program may qualify for academic credit if approved by the student’s institution. Students are responsible for coordinating approval with their university or academic advisor. Please contact your academic advisor in advance and ask them to email your internship agreement packet or PDF forms to directorofoperations@ebenezermethodistchurch.org.
Internship = Shadow + Assisting
*Observation-based learning with guided participation in ministry and organizational functions.
Outreach + Missions InternInterns in Outreach & Missions support the department through guided participation in administrative and ministry coordination tasks. This includes observing outreach planning, assisting with event preparation, and learning how community engagement initiatives are developed and executed under staff supervision. The focus is on understanding mission strategy and developing foundational ministry and organizational skills.
Children's Ministry InternInterns in Children’s Ministry learn how educational and discipleship programs are structured and delivered. They assist staff with preparation of materials, classroom support under supervision, and observation of teaching methods. This role emphasizes learning child development principles, classroom management, and ministry operations in a guided environment.
Youth Ministry InternInterns in Youth Ministry gain exposure to student discipleship, programming, and ministry communication. They participate in planning discussions, assist with event preparation, and observe youth leadership practices. The emphasis is on learning how to engage and support students in a structured ministry environment.
Social Media InternInterns in Communications assist with learning how church messaging and digital content are created and managed. Responsibilities include observing content planning, assisting with basic content preparation, and learning storytelling and communication strategies under supervision. The focus is on developing foundational media and communication skills.
Fellowships
Fellowships are designed for emerging professionals who are ready to grow beyond entry-level experience. Fellows engage in structured projects, skill development, and guided leadership opportunities under the mentorship of church staff. The focus is on developing professional competencies through hands-on project work and leadership exposure.
Program Duration - Up to 12 Months

Fellow = Learns Project Management
*Project-based learning with increasing responsibility in defined ministry initiatives.
Sports Ministry FellowFellows in Sports Ministry engage in program development and coordination support within recreational and outreach sports initiatives. They assist in supporting activities, learning program organization, and may help assist with small components of events under supervision. This role emphasizes leadership development, organizational planning, and community engagement.
Communications FellowFellows in Communications participate in content development, messaging strategy, and ministry communication planning. They learn about storytelling initiatives, assist in designing communication materials, and may help coordinate digital and print messaging campaigns. The focus is on developing strategic communication and creative leadership skills.
Childcare + Family Ministry FellowFellows in Family Ministry support the development of programs that serve children and families. They assist in planning family-focused initiatives, learn educational programming development, and learn how staff improves ministry structure. This role emphasizes program design, leadership growth, and family engagement strategy.
Hospitality FellowFellows in Hospitality support the planning and enhancement of guest experience and church events. They learn service planning, assist in organizing large gatherings, and learn about improving systems for welcoming and engaging attendees. The focus is on leadership in event coordination and guest experience development.
Residency
Residencies are advanced development opportunities for individuals preparing for long-term leadership or specialized ministry roles. Residents work closely with church leadership on high-level projects, receive mentorship, and contribute to ministry planning. This is a structured training pathway focused on leadership development, creative development, and organizational insight under supervision.

Resident = Learns Systems Over Supervision
*Supervised leadership development through strategic, program-level ministry engagement.
Executive Leadership ResidencyResidents in Executive Leadership work closely with church leadership to understand organizational systems, strategic planning, and administrative operations. They participate in leadership meetings as learners, assist in coordinating administrative processes, and support high-level organizational initiatives under direct supervision. This role focuses on developing executive thinking, leadership capacity, and operational understanding.
Pastoral ResidencyResidents in Pastoral Ministry receive guided training in teaching, discipleship, and pastoral care. They observe senior leadership, develop teaching and sermon preparation skills, and may participate in supervised teaching or ministry moments. The emphasis is on pastoral formation, theological development, and leadership readiness.
Ministry Operations ResidencyResidents in Ministry Operations learn how church systems, communications, and organizational functions are managed at a strategic level. They learn planning initiatives, assist in system development projects, and support operational improvements under supervision. The focus is on organizational leadership and ministry infrastructure development.
Associate Pastor ResidencyResidents in the Associate Pastor track are trained in pastoral leadership through observation, mentorship, and supervised participation in ministry functions. They engage in leadership development, assist in planning ministry activities, and may participate in occasional supervised teaching or leadership experiences as part of their training.
